Pinhão :
Nerve centre of the Port Wine demarcated region. There are several estates producing great classified wines here. The Pinhão railway station is famous for its 24 tile panels (azuleijos), which reproduce the landscapes of the Douro and vintage works.
Going through São Cristóvão do Douro, Provesende, Vilarinho de São Romão.
Sabrosa: Village with several emblazoned manor houses, from which we can appreciate the Pereiras house where Ferdinand Magellan was born, built in the 15th century, and the Casa dos Barros Lobo from the 18th century, that is a former manor house with the Barros Lobo family coat of arms.
Depending on the time of arrival in Sabrosa, there is a possibility to visit the Museum dedicated to Ferdinand Magellan, a Portuguese navigator who carried out the first circumnavigation voyage of the globe, from 1519 to 1522. A playful visit to a little history in the world of discoveries !

Descending walk towards Pinhão’s river, passing through Soutelinho’s village, Favaios’ typical village of the Douro, famous for its wheat bread and Moscat wine.
Alijó:
In a territorial axis that was a border between Christians and Arabs, Alijó was destroyed several times until it was abandoned. From the 12th century, thanks to charters granted by D. Sancho II, D. Afonso III, and by D. Manuel (16th century), Alijó began to live again. The municipality of Alijó is famous for its regional cuisine, its wines, and in particular the famous Favaios Moscat wine.
Depending on the time of arrival to Alijó, there is a possibility to visit the Bread and Wine Museum of Favaios and to visit a traditional bakery.

Dinner and accommodation at the Pousada do Barrão de Forester, the only Pousada in Portugal in the Demarcated Douro Region. A place full of history, a tribute to Joseph James Forrester, an English businessman, based in Portugal during the 19th century, titled Baron by King Fernando II in recognition of his appreciation of the Douro and Port Wine.
Walk through vineyards, with a view over the villages of Sabrosa, Provesende,… and the splendid Douro river.
Visit of the Quinta da Avessada, first estate in the region to produce Favaios Moscat wine. First Interactive Enoteca (local/regional wine shop) in Europe. Here you will have a playful, dynamic and interactive tour, which portrays in a unique way the history of the Quinta,its way of life, uses and customs, from the ancestral era.
Wine tasting, with lunch of typical dishes prepared in the traditional way.
Passing through Vilarinho de Cotas and stopping at the viewpoint of Casal de Loivos which offers one of the most beautiful views over the Douro Vinhateiro. A breathtaking panorama that will leave you speechless!
