Spring is one of the most romanticized seasons of the year in books and movies, isn’t it?
It is indeed a very beautiful season! The trees regain their leaves, the flowers bloom, the birds return, and everything becomes more colorful, scented, and beautiful… The days are longer and warmer. The weather tends to improve. All of this results in an immense joy and an uncontrollable urge to get out of the house and go for a walk.
Let’s go for a walk in Portugal?

What is an equinox?
Before we start our walk let’s learn more about what spring is.
The seasons are divided into solstices and equinoxes. The equinoxes are spring and fall. The definition of the word equinox is nothing more, nothing less, equal nights and days. Meaning that, on the day that each of the equinoxes begins, the length of the day is very similar to the length of the night.
The seasons only exist because, in addition to the planet Earth revolving around itself, it also revolves around the Sun. But most of all because it has an inclination of about 23 degrees. And so spring appears. In the case of Portugal, as it is in the northern hemisphere, this season occurs between March and June.

Although the flora is the change that jumps out at us the most, the fauna also has a lot to give us! With the return of spring, migratory species also return. There are hundreds of bird species that choose other countries to spend the winter, and that return in the spring to spend the hooter seasons here! It is here that they choose to have their childs and prepare them for their first long journey back to Africa in September/October. Besides the return of these populations, we also have the emergence of new members in the different families! Many animals take refuge in their burrows to protect themselves from the cold winter, only coming out again when spring and warm days arrive. And a large number of them already come out with their juniores! There is no doubt that spring is synonymous of beauty and rejuvenation! Whatever the season, the landscape is different and it is always worth taking the time to stop and contemplate!

Portugal has a very wide offer of possible activities, everything depends on the memories we want to take home!

We can do simple walks, but even better is to do walks with ornithologist and biologist guides who will teach us a lot about birds and the different inhabitants of the forests! But we can also do a photographic walk, to eternalize these moments of extraordinary beauty!
If you are more adventurous, fear not! We have many outdoor activities to give you a shot of adrenaline and connect you to nature!
This is a time when we recommend more visits to nature to relax, connect and gain new energy!
